Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology

 
 

Marcus Whitman, MD, pioneer medical missionary to the Native Americans of the Northwest Territory. He facilitated pioneer settlements and secured territorial rights for the United States. In his left hand he carries his pioneering maps and his medical satchel. In his right he carries the holy scriptures, from which he taught Native Americans the Christian faith and the skills of reading and writing.
